Next: Who can participate?
Firstly, expect to enjoy yourself. This is not an "intensive" kind of affair; a crash-course of talks
and meetings and constant looking at the clock. This is Greece, and I didn't choose to live
here to rush around and get stressed, and I don't imagine you want that as a part of your
workshop experience either.
We will spend much of our time together amongst the natural beauty of the island:
leisurely walks and excursions with plenty of time for photography.
Superb locations, talks and the vital Picture Analysis Sessions where your work can be compared, praised, and critised. This is where we learn most about who we are as photographers, how we are expressing ourselves and how we can refine our
technique and our "Seeing".
Photo themes include: landscape, close-up, still-life, abstract/fantasy, architecture and portrait
and not necessarily in that order or all of the above — depending on individual interest. The
Workshops are not rigidly structured, rather, they are fluid and
flexible.
Whatever we take photos of, we are dealing with light and shadow, and these together with
composition, form, harmony or tension, contrast and so on will feature in our discussions.
I will try to show you how to get the best out of your camera, depending again on your
individual needs and type of equipment. Please bear in mind however — especially the less
experienced — that you cannot expect to master certain aspects of photography (e.g. depth of
field) in a few days.
There will be 4 days of Photo-tuition and a first evening introduction meeting and slide
presentation — a total time of approximately 24 hours.
Come along and challenge yourself photographically in an informal atmosphere, and
spread your creative wings...
NB: The workshop schedule is designed so that those with only limited time can travel to and from
home in a week. Naturally, participation in a workshop is an ideal way to combine your hobby with an
extended holiday in Greece.
